4th Cavalry. Scarlet coat (kurta) with dark blue trim, waist sash and turban, striped with yelllow and blue gray. Lance pennon scarlet over white. These colorful Indian Army dress uniforms were worn on parade and garrison duty. In battle all regiments wore khaki service dress for over thirty years prior to World War I.

This model, of a Sowar (trooper) in full dress mounted on a walking horse can be painted not only as Skinner's Horse, nicknamed the "Yellow Canaries" for the yellow uniform coats, but also in several different uniforms of the Bengal Cavalry.
