| Two regiments from New Hampshire answered President Lincoln's call for troops at the beginning of the Civil War. Both regiments were clothed in gray, as were several northern units, which caused additional confusion on the battlefield, as gray was athe southern color. |

| Order Code : C-173 Commanded by Col. Ambrose E. Burnside, the men were uniformed with a loose fitting blue blouse and a red blanket roll strapped to their back. Mustered out of the service after Bull Run, the 2nd Rhode Island Regiment, a three year unit, wore about the same uniform. |
